My most prominent commercial role in design was for a beverage company out of Milton, Delaware called The Brimming Horn Meadery. From the early stages of their business in 2017 up to to 2020, I worked with them to illustrate, design and layout representations of their brand. All of the artistic direction revolves around their heritage as descendents of the vikings and norse mythology. The cultural theme of the business honors the ancient art and tradition of mead making and drinking. They take great pride in their product and it shows by the passion they pour into each beverage they make.

The Official Brimming Horn Logo
My journey with Brimming Horn Started as a one-off commission for a unique and memorable logo. In order to best represent the brand, I needed it to speak to the aesthetic of the times. I knew that the obvious choice to reference ancient rune symbols needed to be carefully executed. Understanding this was quite a common practice in representing viking culture, I was sure to make it stand out amongst other generic fonts. As the owners are both fans of metal music, I naturally used my experience in this craft. I decided to give the whole composition a defining and authoritative curve. I wanted to create hierarchy from the additional words "The' and "Meadery", so I chose an old style, illustrative, yet legible serif font to differentiate from the larger, more prominent letterforms in "BRIMMING HORN". I chose to incorporate the shape of drinking horns, Adorning them with serpents in the style of Old Norse art. I ensured the design remained clean and easy to print without adding too much detail. The negative space between the horns naturally formed a frame for a circular emblem, which has since become a versatile symbol of the brand. Below are some examples of the logo in the real world.

Brimming horn prides itself in embracing the culture of music with their brand and has done many collaborative releases with bands to promote them in a unique way. Below are two projects I worked on.
After resigning from my position in 2020 to pursue more freelance art, Brimming Horn has since expanded to a second location in Seaford, DE and added a brewery called Bear Cult Brewing to the fold. It was a pleasure working with both Robert Walker and Jon Talkington during my time with the Brimming Horn. my work, including the original logo, remains to be featured throughout their brand.
